Bequeathed by Jean-Marie de Silguy in 1864

H. 77 cm - L. 61,2 cm

The rich range of colours used in this panel corresponds fully with the Tuscan mannerist trend.   Poppi worked in Florence in Vasari’s studio and helped with his work. This panel shows the influence of his master, as well as that of other mannerists who were then working at the Court of Medici, in particular Bronzino, with its formal elegance.  Another work attributed to Giovanni Battista Naldini (1537-1591), painter of this same late Tuscan mannerist style, is currently being examined.
