Oil on canvas

Bequeathed by Jean-Marie de Silguy in 1864

H. 127,5 cm - L. 176 cm

The subject is not certain. It could be the resurrection of Lazarus, and we can identify Mary at the centre and Martha in the background, with Saint Peter as the bearded old man with a halo. But the composition does not correspond to the usual treatment of this theme.  In this work, which can be attributed to the Genoese Orazio de Ferrari, we can see the influence of Spanish painting and the new principles of Carravagism.
